• NNK Review & Giveaway

Oh my gosh, what a week last week was. The flu hit our house bad and the week was spent nursing sick babies. Knock-on-wood we our all clear and healthy and that it doesn't hit DH and I next!

Being out of the office all last week has put me really behind and I wanted to start this week back on a positive note by doing a blog post about a great book and a giveaway. Annie and the Swiss Cheese Scarf is a new children's story about learning to knit. It is also the very first children's book published by my friend, and fellow knitwear designer, Alana Dakos of Never Not Knitting.

Alana wrote this book along with her six year old daughter and it is SO adorable. It's a story about Annie, a little girl that really wants to learn how to knit just like her mommy. Annie, becomes frustrated because at first learning how to knit isn't as easy as she'd hoped.

When her knitting starts to look more like swiss cheese rather than a real scarf she gives up on knitting leaving you to wonder if she'll ever pick up her needles again. This story is about overcoming hurdles to learn something new, even when it's challenging.

I love everything about this book. The characters are adorable and the the illustration work done by Neesha Hudson is amazing! Alana even adds a fun sort of 'hide-and-seek' game to each page.

You can buy Annie and the Swiss Cheese Scarf HERE. There is an option to buy the book alone or to buy the Deluxe Gift Set which includes the hardcover book, children's puzzle, paper dolls, sticker sheet and decorative box. I bought the Deluxe Gift Set for my six year old neighbor for Christmas and she loved it. She loved it so much she's asking for pink yarn, needles and knitting lessons for her upcoming birthday :)

I highly recommend buying this book. This charming story and would be a great addition to your children's library – or your knitting library for that matter!

Lucky for us, Alana was kind enough to send a Deluxe Gift Set to me and I'm offering it up as a giveaway. To enter, leave me a comment, let me know that you follow Alana or I on Twitter and tell me who you'd give the book to if you won it or if you'd simply keep it for yourself. I'll draw a lucky winner later in the week.

    Good luck!

      I am following you both!!

This book looks like something my daughters would LOVE!! My eight year old has been knitting for two years now and my 5 year old has been using a knitting tower for about a year now. Her goal this school year (we homeschool) is to learn to knit with real needles!! They would both just love this book!! Crossing my fingers for sure!!

If I win, it’ll go right to my friend Anne Marie, who has 4 girls who will be amazing knitters someday. I’m sure of it.

This sounds like such a sweet book. I would be giving the book to my little grandsons(yes, boys) who watch me knit and are facinated by it. I plan on teaching both of them to knit. I am following you both on twitter.

I’ve been following you for yonks (just retweeted your contest!) and just added Alana this morning.

I’d give the book to my six year old daughter who is currently learning to knit.
